Orchids are one of the representatives of Taiwan's modern agriculture, with sophisticate breeding and cultivation techniques, and have competitive advantages in the global flower market. At the time of global development and competition, systemic problems in the industrial chain, such as a serious shortage of regular operators, lack of data management and knowledge system in production, and lack of systematic connection and integration of production and sales information, hinder the continuous expansion of Taiwan Orchid's industrial territory.

Research and improve the irrigating machine to detect the position of the plant and supply water and combine the remote control of the multi-direct wheel to develop a fully automatic irrigating machine, which can effectively solve the problem of time-consuming and labor-intensive watering. Research and develop labor-saving machinery such as electric labor-saving handling machinery, automatic folding box machinery for cut flowers, stone media separation processor, etc., which can be applied to the orchid cut flower industry to reduce labor costs and occupational injuries. For the system problems of insufficient data management and information, we have established and developed digital service platforms such as tissue culture seedling production management, intelligent lighting supplementation, orchid growth abnormal monitoring and service, orchid physiological detection and production and sales information management. Through digital management, combined with the application of information and communication technology, remote monitoring and pest inquiry and identification, we can quickly and with transparency to connect the original record and control in production to the information on sales, while strengthening the data application and analysis functions , greatly reduce the burden of paperwork, and improve the management and control of labor risks, so as to achieve the goal of reducing production losses and improving product quality.

Introduction

Production and environmental information integration traceability system for plant tissue culture

We develop an information system for plant tissue culture production management, with automated production scheduling, barcode warehousing and shipping management, cloud-based digital information storage, modular production process design, and uses API to interface with environmental sensing values . The system integrates various management procedures of plant tissue culture production and to enhances the use of digital information, which helps to accelerate the information management process of domestic plant tissue culture industry.

Automatic watering system on phalaenopsis

Improved from previous self-propelled watering machine, the new Phalaenopsis full-automatic watering machine detects the position of each plant by the laser scanner. Each detecting unit identifies pot position by height of laser reflection, and then algorithm system signals the motor to launch watering procedure. In addition, the power wheels and moving wheel must be changed and pushed by hands has been modified to mecanum wheels that go both lateral and longitudinal directions, the remote-control system has been incorporated as well, therefore saves time and labor.

The application of smart supplemental lighting technology on enhancing Oncidesa orchids flower quality

The smart lighting technology which combined agricultural automatic monitor and lighting equipment applied to improve the quality of Oncidesa cut flowers. The automatic monitoring system calculated the daily light interval (DLI), and turned on lighting if needed. In winter the grade A cut flowers increased 50% in smart lighting treatment compared to the controls. Meanwhile it could extended one month flower period. Using the smart lighting technology saved 42 65% of the energy compared to those switched with a timer. The smart light technology improves the quality of cut flowers and effectively reduced electricity costs.

The Development and Application of the Phalaenopsis Production Alliance

Collecting microclimate data inside the orchid greenhouse with combined with sensing devices, and establishing databases of Phalaenopsis element analysis data as a reference for equipment operation and management whithin production alliances.

Orchid Industry Consistently Save Machinery and Technology
