Introduction

According to reports, more than 70% of agricultural workers have faced occupational injuries and 90% of skeletal and muscle injuries are caused by excessive physical exertions and unsuitable postures. For example, the most common injury is shoulder discomfort which could cause pain and soreness.

To solve these occupational injuries for farmers, our team developed assistive exoskeleton devices to provide a supporting and assistance that could help to reduce muscle consumption of farmers and increase the efficiency of agricultural works after agricultural operations.

Our developed up-limb exoskeleton provides a holding force to their arms for a long time lifting postures with a low muscle consumption that can effectively improve their work efficiency and avoid occurring muscle fatigue and soreness.

Result & Effect

1. The EMG measurement shows that the developed assistive exoskelton coulE14:H14d female farmers during the grape thinning work, respectively. Similarly, during the pomelo spraying work, the assistive tool could save an average consumption of 48.3% strength for male farmers.

2. There are five patterns obtained, including「WEARABLE UPPER ARM MAN-MACHINE AID」、「ADJUSTABLE EXOSKELETON APPARATUS」、「ADJUSTABLE LABOR-SAVING APPARATUS」、「WEARABLE LOWER LIMB MAN-MACHINE AID」、「WEARABLE ASSISTIVE EXOSKELETON」.

3.The details of developed assistive exoskelotion was published to the journal in 2021.

4. The developed assistive tool was authorised to two industry companies in 2020 and 2021.
